  • An improved workflow for working with animation frames
  • An improved animation timeline display
  • Krita can now handle larger animation by buffering rendered frames to disk

  • performance improvements for brush masks

And there are a lot of bug fixes, performance improvements, and other more features. See the release note for details.

Download / Install Krita 4.1 in Ubuntu:

The appimage, single executable file to run the software, for 64-bit Linux is available for download at the link below:

Krita PPA:

The 4.1 release will be soon made into Krita Lime PPA for Ubuntu 18.04.

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:kritalime/ppa

Type your password (no asterisks feedback while typing) when it prompts and hit Enter to continue.

Once the PPA published the new packages, you can upgrade Krita via Software Updater, or install the digital painting software via command:

sudo apt-get update

sudo apt-get install krita

You can remove Ubuntu PPAs by launching Software & Updates and navigating to Other Software tab.
