Focus Writer, a simple open-source full-screen word processor, reached the 1.6.6 release days ago with some bug-fixes and translation updates.
FocusWriter supports TXT, basic RTF, and basic ODT files. It allows you to customize your environment by creating themes that control the font, colors, and background image to add ambiance. It also features on-the-fly updating statistics, daily goals, multiple open documents, spell-checking, and much more.
Focus Writer 1.6.6 is a small release with following fixes:
- Fix translations not always installed in Linux
- Remove unneccessary compiler warning about switch fallthrough
- Fix the software did not show headings when automatic spellchecking was disabled
- Foreground incorrectly placed when load stretched themes was fixed.
- Translation updates
How to Install Focus Writer in Ubuntu:
The developer’s PPA offers the latest packages for Ubuntu 14.04, Ubuntu 16.04, Ubuntu 17.04, Ubuntu 17.10, and derivatives.
1. Open terminal (Ctrl+Alt+T) and run command to add the PPA:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:gottcode/gcppa
Input your password (no visual feedback while typing due to security reason) when it prompts and hit Enter.
2.If you have a previous release installed, launch Software Updater to upgrade the software:
Or run commands one by one in terminal to install (or upgrade) it for the first time:
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install focuswriter
Uninstall:
To remove the software, either use your system package manager or run following command in terminal:
sudo apt-get remove --autoremove focuswriter
And remove the PPA via Software & Updates utility under Other Software tab.
