The open-source photo management software digiKam 4.13.0 has been released yesterday with various bug-fixes. KF5 port is still under process.
Philip Johnsson is maintaining PPAs with the latest digiKam packages for Ubuntu 14.04 (both KDE 4.13 & 4.14) and Ubuntu 15.04. Below is how to install or upgrade to digiKam 4.13.0 via the PPA.
1. Add digiKam PPA – open terminal from the Dash, Launcher, or via Ctrl+Alt+T shortcut keys. When it opens, run below commands one by one:
For Ubuntu 14.04 upgraded to KDE 4.14 through Kubuntu Backports PPA,
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:philip5/kubuntu-backports
For Ubuntu 15.04, Ubuntu 14.04 with the default KDE libraries, run below command instead to add another PPA:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:philip5/extra
2. Install /Upgrade digiKam.
After adding the PPA, upgrade the program through Software Updater after checking for updates. Or just run below commands in terminal to update system cache and install the binary:
sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get install digikam
That’s it. Enjoy!
